Stories of Impact: Deondra Kamau Means, TCT’s Resident Playwright and WorkShop Artist

By The Children's Theatre

“Since 1994, I have been working with TCT to create comprehensive programing that reaches children from all demographics of the Tri-state area. First as a performer and navigating through arts education as a Teaching Artist, Arts Integration Specialist and currently as Resident Playwright, I have grown personally in ways that foster self-care to specifically deal with the trauma associated with adverse childhood experiences. “

“TCT’s Workshop Division specifically has the power to enrich the lives of students through artistic expression. Arts exposure broadens the perspectives of students by exploring the “Magic If,” a great theatre and teaching technique. In the group experience that we create, participants are nurtured to openly share their thoughts, ideas and choices in a safe, fun, and educational way.

It is a joy to witness the artistic enrichment we share in a myriad of ways with children who may not otherwise have the opportunity.  I’m grateful to TCT for helping me perfect my craft with a wonderful opportunity to share it with the community and around Greater Cincinnati.”
