Stories of Impact: Scott Stubbins, TCT Alumni & Board Member

By The Children's Theatre

“The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati (TCT) has played an important part in my life as it has for many others.  Growing up, I was always interested in sports and singing but it wasn’t until high school that I got involved in theatre.  Performing on stage gave me confidence that was difficult to find in those searching years.  In my senior year of high school, I performed in a TCT production of Once Upon a Mattress as a knight with a bright pink wig – needless to say confidence wasn’t a problem by then.  My career led me to New York, but Wall Street instead of Broadway.  When I came back to Cincinnati, I got back involved with The Children’s Theatre but this time on the Board eventually serving as Treasurer and Board Chairman.  In a digitally-connected society, it is critically important for us to create ways for kids to make connections beyond the screen.  The Children’s Theatre allows us to share our stories, it gives our young people a creative outlet for them to express themselves and makes the joy of theatre available to all of the children in our area.  Beyond creating future theatre patrons, we are engaging the young in creative ways, inspiring them to share their stories and igniting a love of the arts that will last the rest of their lives.  I know all of that was true for me.”
