101 Stories: Jerry Wahl

By The Children's Theatre

Celebrate TCT’s 101st season as it comes to a close as we applaud and appreciate those who contributed to the organization’s magic throughout our century-long journey.  During 10 weeks of recognition, we honor individuals who have been instrumental in the success of TCT, and who have not only helped TCT grow in mission, but also thrive, thanks to their passion.  It is these people and their moments in our history that shaped TCT to become what it is today. We encourage you to consider giving a gift in their honor to ensure the sustainability of TCT’s mission for the next 100+ years.

Mrs. Jerry Wahl was a TCT Board Member from 1980 to 2015 and is affectionately known as “The Bus Lady.” After a show, The Bus Lady would appear on the stage at the Taft Theatre and would dismiss the schools by calling out their bus numbers. Jerry loved being called this until she retired from duty in 2017.

Jerry also combined her love of volunteering with TCT with her long-time involvement with the Western & Southern Open. For many summers, she secured a place for TCT’s STAR students to perform during Kids Day at the world-class tennis tournament.

She had so many wonderful experiences volunteering at TCT, it was hard for her to pick one out just one.

Jerry says: “I loved bringing the children, teachers and parents into the Taft to see a performance. I loved watching all their faces.”

She added: “What do I miss the most?…I miss everything.”

Would you honor Jerry Wahl with a gift to recognize the impact made on TCT?
