TCT AcademyLIVE! – PLAY! (Ages 11-18 Performance Class) Mondays 4:30pm – 6:00pm

In-Person

Students will work as an ensemble to learn the fundamentals of blocking, memorization, and scene work. This 10-week session ends in a performance. All participants must be available for the performance during the final week of class.

 

This session we will be performing: The Hysterical History of the Trojan War! The Hysterical History of the Trojan War is a hilarious comedic play by D.M. Larson that reimagines the epic Greek myth. In this witty take, the legendary heroes act like goofy teenagers, the gods bicker on cell phones, and blind songwriter Homer narrates the chaos This class is designed to train students in the skills and techniques needed for a fully staged play. This class will rehearse a play that will culminate in a production.

Refunds: If canceling a TCT Academy enrollment more than two (2) weeks prior to the start of the session (Fall, Spring, or Summer) not the start of the specific class or camp, you will receive a full refund. Canceling within two the (2) weeks prior to the start of the session will receive a 50% refund. Canceling once the session has begun negates a refund or account credit of any kind.*· Our financial policies are strictly applied to ensure our ability to continue our mission and programs.· TCT Academy students who do not attend or report to a session will not receive a refund.· If a refund is approved, it will be processed within 30 days.· TCT Academy Students sent home or unable to attend a session due to disciplinary reasons, homesickness, or inability to manage pre-existing medical, mental, emotional, or social health conditions will not receive a refund.

 

* The only exception to these refund policies is if a cancelation is due to an event that forces TCT to cancel a class, session, workshop, AcademyLIVE! production, or camp.

Shelby Coleman

Teacher

Shelby has a background in theatre education and dance that has led her across the country. She is the Education Director at Stage Right MTC Inc and most recently was the Director of Artistic and Educational Programs with the Surry Arts Council in North Carolina where she directed, choreographed, designed and taught for students throughout North Carolina and Virginia. While there, Shelby was the founder and instructor of a dance studio specializing in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, West African, clogging, flat foot, musical theatre and pre-pointe. Shelby has a background in teaching students diagnosed with various physical, mental, and learning disabilities.  As the creator of the Special Friends Program in North Carolina, she spear-headed the implementation of the arts as a support for furthering social, emotional and LifeSkills learning for Exception Children classrooms and Post K-12 LifeSkills groups throughout the state. Shelby has taught at various institutes across the country including Lexington Children's Theatre, Shooting Stars YouTheatre, Missoula Children's Theatre, StageRight MTC Inc, Morehead State University, Surry Community College, Surry Arts Council, Ryle High School, Surry County Schools, Milennium Charter Academy, Cincinnati Public Schools, Boone County Public Libraries, Kenton County Public Libraries, Grant County Public Libraries and now The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati.
