TCT AcademyLIVE! – PLAY! (Ages 7-13 Performance Class) Wednesdays 4:30pm – 6:00pm

Students will work as an ensemble to learn the fundamentals of blocking, memorization, and scene work. This 10-week session ends in a performance. All participants must be available for the performance on November 11. This session we will be performing WITCHES VS. PRINCESSES. This class is designed to train students in the skills and techniques needed for a fully staged play. This class will rehearse a play that will culminate in a production.

 

The story follows three witches who are preparing to enter a contest. BUT three princesses immediately take the spotlight and declare princesses to be superior. This play is a wacky, comedic adventure full of exaggerated characters, audience participation, and some familiar stories.

Shelby Coleman

Teacher

Shelby has a background in theatre education and dance that has led her across the country. She is the Education Director at Stage Right MTC Inc and most recently was the Director of Artistic and Educational Programs with the Surry Arts Council in North Carolina where she directed, choreographed, designed and taught for students throughout North Carolina and Virginia. While there, Shelby was the founder and instructor of a dance studio specializing in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, West African, clogging, flat foot, musical theatre and pre-pointe. Shelby has a background in teaching students diagnosed with various physical, mental, and learning disabilities.  As the creator of the Special Friends Program in North Carolina, she spear-headed the implementation of the arts as a support for furthering social, emotional and LifeSkills learning for Exception Children classrooms and Post K-12 LifeSkills groups throughout the state. Shelby has taught at various institutes across the country including Lexington Children's Theatre, Shooting Stars YouTheatre, Missoula Children's Theatre, StageRight MTC Inc, Morehead State University, Surry Community College, Surry Arts Council, Ryle High School, Surry County Schools, Milennium Charter Academy, Cincinnati Public Schools, Boone County Public Libraries, Kenton County Public Libraries, Grant County Public Libraries and now The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati.
