Stories of Impact: Sue Hutten, Genoa’s Mom and TCT Patron

By The Children's Theatre

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati and especially the Sensory-Friendly performances bring such joy to Genoa, a 15 year-old who has limited verbal skills, Austim and Koolen de Vries Syndrome.  Sue, Genoa’s mom shared how much TCT’s Sensory-Friendly performances have meant to their family.

Genoa has been homeschooled for the past four years. Her life seems to be organized around seeing the MainStage at The Taft productions and often her choice of costumes for Halloween is influenced by the first show of the season.  Genoa (pronounced Genna) is tuned in to the theatre experience from the large doors opening, to the “announcer,” Mr. Roderick Justice, who sets the stage for a great theatrical experience. Genoa lights up when Mr. Roderick begins his messages and leaves the show beaming!   Sue gets emotional just watching the joy her daughter experiences!
