101 Stories: Ivy Bayer & Cincinnati Magazine

By The Children's Theatre

Celebrate TCT’s 101st season as it comes to a close as we applaud and appreciate those who contributed to the organization’s magic throughout our century-long journey.  During 10 weeks of recognition, we honor individuals who have been instrumental in the success of TCT, and who have not only helped TCT grow in mission, but also thrive, thanks to their passion.  It is these people and their moments in our history that shaped TCT to become what it is today. We encourage you to consider giving a gift in their honor to ensure the sustainability of TCT’s mission for the next 100+ years.

Ivy Bayer and her daughter, Tessa.

In 2005, The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Magazine forged a special partnership. Due to the organization’s tremendous growth, the internal TCT team needed support with the creation of its MainStage show programs. Cincinnati Magazine had the ability to handle all advertising sales, layout, and printing; with creative and editorial elements handled by TCT.  A new collaboration was born.  The programs are still impressive, informative, and gorgeous. This model was so successful, it became the norm for many other arts organizations and major events in town, which in turn grew Cincinnati Magazine’s custom publication division.  A win-win!

TCT is fortunate to have the region’s premiere publication and outstanding publishing team working hard to support us.

Ms. Ivy Bayer, who was TCT’s Account Representative back in the day, and now serves as Cincinnati Magazine’s Publisher, helped put the original deal together.  The devoted working mom of two says:

“TCT was our kids’ official introduction to live theatre – and they were hooked! I am so grateful for that first experience which has led to a genuine love for the stage and many productions of their very own over the years (Disney’s Cinderella KIDSAnnie JR.Disney’s Aladdin JR.Schoolhouse Rock Live! and many more). To both enjoy TCT personally and have the pleasure of working with their team professionally has been such a joy.”

To prevent any likelihood of virus transmission, all of TCT’s show programs moved online this year. Click here to see a sample from Rapunzel’s Hairy Fairy Tale
